1. Is CBA a not-for-profit
organization?
- Yes, CBA is a not-for-profit organization dedicated
to developing young athletes in our community.
2. What qualifications do CBA coaches
have?
- All our coaches undergo annual training and
third-party sessions, including the Best Ever Coaches Clinic presented by
the Ontario Baseball Association. A committee selects them based on their
development approach and experience.
3. What are the annual fees for Rep
teams?
- The average annual fee for a Rep team is
approximately $1,500 - $1,800.
4. How many games and practices make up
a Rep season?
- Rep seasons typically consist of approximately 40
games and 40 practices, including winter training, tournaments and
playoffs.
5. When do off-season development
programs start?
- Our off-season development programs begin as early as
January 3rd each year.
6. How does CBA structure its teams for
competition?
- We field Rep teams within a single age group
and our Select teams* consist of two back-to-back birth years. The average
roster size of 12 at the rep and select level means more playing time for
better competition and player development.
7. What leagues do CBA teams play in?
- Our teams play in the Eastern Ontario Baseball
Association (EOBA) loop, which includes Kingston, Quinte, Northumberland,
Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax, Pickering, Uxbridge, Peterborough, and Kawartha.
8. What levels of teams does CBA offer?
- We offer teams at various levels, including AAA, AA,
A, Select and House League.
9. Who governs Eastern Ontario
baseball?
- Eastern Ontario baseball is governed by the Ontario
Baseball Association, which is under the authority of Baseball Canada.
10. Can teams choose the tournaments
they want to enter?
- Yes, each team can decide which tournaments to enter,
including the option to participate in tournaments in the USA.
11. How long has CBA been part of the
community?
- The Clarington Baseball Association has a strong,
30-year history in our community.
12. What is the travel distance for
games?
- We play in a local travel loop, keeping most games
within an hour from home.
13. What facilities are available for
training?
- CBA teams have access to both indoor and outdoor
training facilities.
14. Is international travel required?
- There is no mandated international travel within our
organization.
15. What age groups does CBA support?
- We aim to roster Rep and Select teams from 8U to 18U.
16. Do CBA teams participate in
provincial championships?
- Yes, our teams can participate in and qualify for
provincial championships.
17. What arm care rules does CBA
follow?
- CBA strictly adheres to arm care and pitch count
rules to ensure the health and safety of our players. These guidelines
prevent overuse injuries and provide more opportunities for all players to
pitch.
18. When are Rep/Select tryouts?
*The CBA will evaluate the viability of
our select program once tryouts are underway. We want to give our players the
opportunity to compete with as many centres as possible so Select teams will be
monitored on an age by age basis.
