We want to extend a huge congratulations to CBA Umpire, Joe Frendo-Cumbo for receiving the EOBA 2023 Senior Umpire of the Year award!
Joe is a dedicated, conscientious and reliable official who has represented both Clarington baseball and
Baseball Oshawa with professionalism, both on and off the diamond for nearly 35 years.
Joe is being recognized for going above and beyond the call of duty on the diamond, as well as working behind the scenes and promoting the values
and beliefs of the CBA. He’s been a strong figure behind the plate at every division – from house league, Select and Rep to Elite baseball, including assignments in tournament play, where competition levels are intensified.
Joe is a strong mentor and role model to our junior umpires and can often be found giving them tips and sharing his wisdom during and after games.
As a true lover of the game, seeing the growth of the players he officiates is one the things that keeps Joe so invested. The mutual respect given to and from players, coaches, and families is what keeps him coming back each year.
