COVID-19 vaccine policy implemented by Durham Health and province

We would like to inform our membership of a new vaccine policy that will impact our players, coaches and staff for the indoor training season.

The Durham Region Health Department and Province of Ontario have announced a new COVID-19 vaccine policy for sports taking place in indoor facilities.

This policy is something our friends at Line Drive Baseball Academy must adhere to or risk penalty.

To read the new policy from the region click here.

It means as of December 20, 2021 anyone 12 or older must be fully vaccinated to enter their facility or other indoor training facilities

What’s this mean?

For…
Coaches, trainers, instructors, volunteers
  • As of December 20, 2021, you must be fully vaccinated to enter an indoor facility
  • You will be required to show ID and proof of being fully vaccinated or proof of a valid medical exemption each time you enter the facility
  • Or you must show a valid medical exemption
Players born 2004 to 2009 (12 to 17-years-old)
  • As of December 20, 2021, you must be fully vaccinated to enter an indoor facility
  • You will be required to show ID and proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19
  • Or you must show a valid medical exemption
Players born in 2010 (turning 12-years-old in 2022)
  • Participants turning 12 in 2022 will have a 12-week grace period from their birthday to become fully vaccinated
  • You will be required to show ID and proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 12 weeks after your birthdate
  • Or you must show a valid medical exemption
Players born since 2011 (11 and under)

Please note that to be fully vaccinated a person must meet the following criteria;

a) they have received,

i) the full series of a COVID-19 vaccine authorized by Health Canada, or any combination of such vaccines,

ii) one or two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine not authorized by Health Canada, followed by one dose of a COVID-19 mRNA vaccine authorized by Health Canada, or

Once again this is a policy put in place by the Durham Region Health Department and the Province of Ontario.
